Tractor Trailer Fire
05/17/2009 -
At 2040 hours, Company 20 was alerted for a vehicle fire in the
first block
of North Queen Street in the borough. Upon arrival at the
scene, units found a semi truck with its left trailer brakes and
tires on fire. Engine 201 extinguished the fire and all
units cleared the scene at 2107 hours.


Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Borough
05/22/2009 -
Units were dispatched at 2052 hours for a vehicle accident
involving a
motorcycle, reported as serious, in the 400 block of North Queen
Street in Littlestown Borough. Alpha units responded with
22 personnel to find a motorcycle that broadsided a passenger
car. Witnesses at the scene stated that the motorcycle was
passing a string of four vehicles on the right at a high rate of
speed when the passenger car, turning into a popular local
eatery, entered its path. STAT MedEvac 13 was called to
transport the motorcyclist to York Hospital's Trauma Center as
Company 20's ambulances treated the patients in the passenger
car. Units returned in service at 2229 hours.
It was later learned that the motorcyclist died after arrival at
the hospital as a result of their injuries. The Alpha Fire
Company No. 1 sends its deepest condolences to the victim's
family and friends.

DUI Accident
05/27/2009 -
Adams County dispatchers alerted Company 20 at 1551 hours for a
vehicle accident in front of a local drinking establishment on
Baltimore Pike in Germany Township. EMS Captain 20 arrived
on scene via POV to find a two vehicle, T-Bone accident with
patients self extricated and walking around. The box was
held to Engine 201, Rescue 20, and 20A. Pennsylvania State
Police took one operator into custody under suspicion of Driving
Under the Influence. Units cleared the scene at 1649
hours.

One into a House
05/31/2009 -
Company 20 tones sounded at 2353 hours for a vehicle accident in
the 100 block of Georgetown Road, reported as one vehicle into a
house. At the scene, personnel found one vehicle in the
roadway with no injuries to its driver. Traffic 20
controlled traffic as Rescue 20's crew dealt with fluids leaking
from the vehicle. All units returned in service at 0028
hours.
